The Tytherington Club will reopen its doors on Saturday (25th July) after four months of lockdown.

The news comes as the deputy chief medical officer urges the public to get fit and lose weight to protect themselves against Covid-19.

Staff at the golf and country club in Dorchester Way, Macclesfield, are ready to welcome members back after receiving the green light from the government.

The Tytherington Club offers a wide range of facilities from large gym, holistic classes, fitness & spin studio's, spa and golf club.

All staff have been trained in the new regulations and a raft of safety measures have been introduced to ensure the safety of both staff and members.

These include temperature checks on entry, hand sanitisation stations located throughout the club as well as new safety and usage signage to guide members through the changes.

In the gym, the space between equipment has been increased to meet social distancing guidelines, while reduced fitness class capacity will ensure social distancing in the studios.

The clubhouse is open for members to relax after their workouts and enjoy the food and beverage offer, both indoors and out.

Safety and cleanliness are absolutely paramount at The Tytherington Club. To this end, the enhanced cleaning regime includes ongoing cleaning of facilities throughout the day, the disinfecting of studios between sessions, the provision of disinfectant spray and paper towels to wipe down equipment before and after use and a rigorous deep clean of the club every night.

Jamie McDonald, general manager of The Tytherington Club, said: "We can't wait to welcome our members back. Ensuring the safety of our members and our team is our number one priority.

"We have run focus groups and pre-opening tours, which have really helped to allay any fears among members. And we've worked incredibly hard to make the club Covid-19 safe.

"It may look a little different but our members can still be assured of a great experience."

The team has been engaging with members throughout lockdown with online workouts and health and fitness tips on social media.

Mr McDonald added: "We would like to thank our members for their support over these last few months. Lockdown has been a lonely and difficult time for many and will have impacted some people's mental and physical wellbeing.

"We know that exercise is one of the best ways to boost your immune system to help prevent Covid-19.

"We are looking forward to helping our members get back on track with their exercise programmes."

The club has seen a surge in new memberships since it reopened its golf club in May.

Mr McDonald continued: "We've been blown away by the number of people taking up golf after lockdown. It's lovely to see so many people enjoying the activity in the club. Lots of casual players have become members and we are enjoying full tee sheets and record green fees."

The Tytherington Club is part of The Club Company group of country clubs.
