An altruistic local man will jump out of a plane for charity.

In a daring feat of courage and compassion, local volunteer David Smith is preparing to leap from the skies to raise funds for Just Drop-In, a vital local charity supporting young people.

As a dedicated repairer at the Macclesfield Repair Café, David has seen firsthand the impact of community support. Now, he's taking that commitment to new heights — literally!

On a crisp September morning, David will embark on a sponsored parachute jump, aiming to raise both awareness and crucial funds for Just Drop-In.

David had this to say about his upcoming challenge.

"Just Drop-In offers a lifeline to young people facing challenges, providing essential help and support. With a heartfelt commitment to improving mental health and wellbeing, Just Drop-In helps them find their feet," he said.

"Their drop-in centres offer a safe space where young people can access counselling, practical advice, and emotional support. With demand rising, every pound raised makes a difference.

"For the past four years, I've been a dedicated volunteer at Just Drop-In. As a group facilitator and mentor, I've witnessed firsthand the transformative impact their free counselling and wellbeing support has on young people aged 11-25 in our community."

David also volunteers at Macc Repair Café on Duke Street, another good cause. But this fundraiser will only raise funds for Just Drop In, the Brook Street charity.

David's skydiving adventure promises thrills, but the real excitement lies in supporting young people.

David has set up an online donation page where you can contribute directly to this worthy cause. Simply scan the QR code below or visit David's Enthuse giving page at this link to make a donation.

Whether it's £5 or £50, every pound makes a difference. All funds raised go directly to Just Drop-In.

Just Drop Inn Chief Officer Ann Wright said: "We are so grateful to David and our other Parachute Jumpers for taking on this awesome challenge."

"Every penny David and the team raise will go to supporting local children who are finding life hard, so please donate. You can find out more about our important work on this link."

He wants to raise £700, and he is already at £550, just over a month before he skydives.

And from Nub News, we say good luck to David as he takes this this exhilarating plunge for a brighter future!
