A planning application has been withdrawn that could have seen a disused Macclesfield yoga studio be turned into a bar.

Life and Soul Limited, a Congleton bar firm had applied earlier this year to turn a Charlotte Street commercial premises into a bar.

The firm already run Rumba bar in Macclesfield, and this application would have seen a new venue just one minute away, operated by the same staff.

However, the planning application has been withdrawn this week.

The future for 29 Charlotte Street now is uncertain.

This means at 29 Charlotte Street, last occupied by Pure Yoga in Cheshire, will not become a bar, or at least not by Life and Soul Limited.

But the local bar company has not given up on exploring more opportunities in Macclesfield yet. Macclesfield Nub News reached out to Life and Soul for comment.

Martin Holmes, Director of Life and Soul Limited said: "As we went through the planning process it became clear that we could not achieve our vision for this site, however we remain committed to developing our offer in Macclesfield, and are always looking for new opportunities."

The occupancy for the scrapped bar was estimated to be 115 people, across two floors. The hours of operation were proposed as 12 noon to 2am, Monday to Sunday. Of course, none of this will come to fruition in its current form with the applicant's withdrawal.
