Masked men have been seen looking into back gardens late at night in Macclesfield.

While no burglaries related to these have been confirmed as of yet, residents are urged to remain vigilant in the Gawsworth Road area of Macclesfield.

Macclesfield West and Ivy Police first alerted residents on Facebook.

"Males have been seen wearing masks and using flashlights in back gardens on Gawsworth Road," they said.

"If you saw anything please let us know quoting IML1211857."

Macclesfield Nub News then contacted Cheshire Police for further details, who had this to say.

"At 11.20pm on Sunday 27 February police were called to reports of suspicious activity on Gawsworth Road, Macclesfield.

"The caller reported seeing two men with torches and wearing masks who were in the back gardens along Gawsworth Road.

"The men appeared to come from the direction of Bostock Road.

"Officers attended the scene and conducted a search of the area but there was no trace of the men.

"Enquiries remain ongoing and anyone with any information or video footage is asked to contact Cheshire police at this webpage, or on 101 quoting IML 1211857."

Properties on Gawsworth Road are quite valuable. With Zoopla estimating the average sale price in the past 12 months being £417,690.

Those in the area should remain vigilant in protecting their homes.
