Crowdfunder for Vandalised Macclesfield Charity Bus Almost Meets Goal

Macclesfield's community spirit is being applauded, after a crowdfunder set up at the start of the week for a vandalised charity bus has almost reached their goal.

After a Space4Autism minibus was trashed during the Bank Holiday weekend, a Macclesfield man set up a gofundme page, which currently sits at just under £9,000 of the £10,000 goal.

Thugs had broke the door of the bus and most of the the vehicle's windows. They also attempted to break the windscreen and the interior mirror off inside.

This left the Macclesfield local cause, which has a physical presence on Mill Lane, with little use for the old bus.

However, through sharing the petition cross social media, Maxonian's have managed to raise almost all the funds for a new bus, not even a week after the appalling incident.

It has been a rollercoaster of emotions for Space4Autism co-founder Cheryl Simpson MBE.

She had this to say to Macclesfield Nub News: "Myself and everyone at Space4Autism cannot thank the community for their tremendous fundraising support to help us with our mini bus appeal which was set up by the wonderful Nathaniel Simpson.

"This act of vandalism was a huge blow to the charity as we are just about to open up and start taking our children, adults and families back out on the road.

"I just could not believe the amount raised in just a short time £7,000 in 24 hours! Just amazing.

"It turned a complete storm on bank holiday Monday to a wonderful rainbow by Tuesday, a huge huge thank you to everyone who has donated, offered support and shared the go fund me page".

Space4Autism Support the whole family living with Autistic Spectrum Conditions via workshops, training programmes, social clubs, carer support and the S4A Cafés.

Macclesfield Nub News will visit the café for the May 17th reopening date, inline with government COVID-19 restrictions on indoor eateries.
