Macclesfield band prepare for their biggest-ever hometown gig
By Matthew Hancock-Bruce 6th Oct 2026
A band from Macclesfield are preparing for their biggest-ever hometown show.
Snowdrop will take to the Cinemac stage this Saturday, October 10.
It's a milestone moment for the band that formed just three years ago.
Founder and leading guitarist, Sam Waring, said: "We are buzzing for it!
"It feels like the natural next step. Cinemac is probably the largest and most established venue for music in Macclesfield, so we thought we'd take it on.
"We aren't expecting a sell-out and it's nothing to do with money for us, we just love playing.
"We have roped in some great local bands too!
"We prefer to make our gigs 'shows'. We like to make them interactive and something to watch, not just to listen.
"We have invested a lot into just this show, in particular making the stage look great."

After his old band disbanded in 2023, Sam asked family friend and bass player, Connor Munro, if he'd like to form an Arctic Monkeys cover band.
Ryley Johnson, lead vocals and rhythm guitar, and drummer Dylan Evans were then drafted in to complete the lineup.
However, the band soon changed direction when Ryley brought his original song, Diamond, to the table.
Sam said: "Once Diamond was finished it became clear that original music was the way forward.
"At that time, I don't think we ever imagined we'd be here right now doing what we are doing, but we love it."
The band are inspired by artists such as The Beatles, The Backseat Lovers, and Tom Misch, all of whom they frequently cover.
Over the past three years, Snowdrop have supported the likes of Toploader, The Pale White and Macclesfield's own, The Virginmarys, as well as headlining the annual Macc Beer Fest.
However, the upcoming gig at Cinemac will be the highlight of their journey so far.
"We all have Macc so close to our hearts and it's amazing to provide it with an even richer music culture," Same said.
"In all honestly, there's not a lot going on music-wise in Macclesfield when compared to the past, despite the success of bands such as Cassia and The Virginmarys.
"Those guys are amazing and they've managed to get themselves out there, but that takes them out of Macc the majority of the time, it's just part of the job.
"That's why we are so proud to be here. We hope to continue, no matter how far we go, to serve the Macclesfield music scene, because the people deserve it!"

Asked what the future holds, Sam added: "We always have lots of things coming up.
"We've always got new music in the pipeline and are exploring playing in new cities and festivals every year.
"We try and better ourselves every year and hopefully it only goes up from here!"
Tickets for the Cinemac gig are priced at £12 and are available online, in advance, here.
