Macclesfield band to face-off with Eurovision winners in music festival vote

A young Macclesfield rock band is to face-off against the winners of last year's Eurovision Song Contest.

Between Thorns, a fivepiece band from our town, has made the final in a competition to play at Y Not Festival 2023.

The festival at Pikehall near Matlock, is taking place this July. But unfortunately for live music lovers, the contest will not be settled with a 'Battle of the Bands' performance.

Each year, Y Not gives up-and-coming acts the chance to play on the big stage, in a fan-voted poll.

Between Thorns are one of a few Cheshire music artists to make the poll, but the only one from Macclesfield.

In total, there are 99 other acts vying to win the vote.

While Between Thorns have had international success with 25,000 streams on Spotify, the most high-profile entrants in the Y Not poll competition area Ukraine rap band Kalush Orchestra.

Kalush Orchestra won last year's Eurovision Song Contest in Turin, with the song Stefania.

Since they won Eurovision, Kalush have played UK festivals like Glastonbury, and could play the Derbyshire music festival if they win this poll.

But there can only be one winner, so Macclesfield music lovers should consider voting for Between Thorns, if they'd like to see the local band win.
