Macclesfield bar and store Proper Sound relaunches after 'Hacienda-inspired' renovations

A Macclesfield shop and bar has remodelled to fit in more customers in time for the busy summer season.
Proper Sound, a unique coffee spot, early evening bar and record shop located on Chestergate, are relaunching this weekend.
They have made a mini-dance floor and expanded the seating from 12 to 20 by adding a second island.
The old shopfront was an mural of the band Oasis that punters could take a photo with.
But this blocked off natural light and didn't show off that the rear of the shop contains a bustling bar.
So by adding a new seating island in the front left of their shopfront, they will be able to attract in more footfall and make it clearer that the one-of-a-kind business is also a trendy bar.
"We're delighted to relaunch on Saturday night," said Lucie.
"Our 'Hacienda Classics' relaunch is to coincide with the theme of our new renovated part of the shop.
"The new corner will be a little nightclub, a mini-Hacienda in Macc.
"We've got Bollington Printshop to do us a giant print of a photo my sister took of the legendary nightclub itself from the 1980s.
"It will help to create that party vibe, which we already have here.
"We've also added moonshine fruit spritzers to our menu since we last opened.
"We would like to thank our customers who loved the Oasis wall, this revamp makes it clearer about all the things we do as a business.
"Russ Hope from Macclesfield zero carbon delivery company ELOV has taken the wall and put it in storage, and we might use it for a charity event in the future.
"I would like to thank Macclesfield for their patience while we spruced up, and to also the small business community who have been so helpful. If you ever need a favour in town, they take the call to action and help."
Macclesfield businesses that have helped them with the revamp include Marcmakescomics, For Me and For You Designs and Becca Smith Art who'll be doing a window mural in their outdoor courtyard.
Another new thing they have introduced is that the bar can be booked for private events.
Proper Sound located on 8 Chestergate, SK116BA.
They are also hosting monthly-music events of certain eras and genres, with the help of Macclesfield's DJ Daz.
The shop has been open since September 2021.
The next themed events are March 25, April 9 and on King Charles' Coronation.
