Just days after the big high street name of Barclays announced they were leaving the town centre, Macclesfield Nub News reports that one national business wants to expand their premises.

Boots Opticians, of 46 Mill Street, want to expand their stock room over a flat roof to the rear of their shop.

It won't change the appearance of the store itself to customers, but it will mean they are able to stock more - and potentially a greater range of - products.

The submission of the plan suggests that Boots Opticians won't be leaving Macclesfield any time soon.

A decision is expected to be made later this month.
