Macclesfield Canal's floating pizzeria has a new owner.

Paul and Chris Edwards have officially handed over the keys to The Waltzing Matilda Boat.

The father-and-son duo first set sail on the narrowboat-turned-pizzeria in 2020 during lockdown but have now decided to call it a day.

Chris said: "When my dad and I started The Waltzing Matilda Boat during lockdown, we had no idea the journey we were setting sail on.

"From those first uncertain days to the countless laughs, pizzas, and people we've met along the towpath, it's been nothing short of magical."

In February, Chris and Paul announced they would not be opening The Waltzing Matilda for the 2025 season.

They explained that balancing the boat with their fulltime jobs had become 'increasingly unmanageable'.

Chris added: "On July 27, we officially handed over the keys to the new owner - and with it, a boatload of memories.

"It was a bittersweet moment, but we're filled with pride for everything this floating pizzeria and coffee shop became.

"To everyone who supported us, ate with us, chatted with us, or simply waved as we passed - thank you. We truly love you all.

"It wasn't perfect, but it was ours."

While the new owner hasn't yet been announced, they have been described as a 'pizza master'.

The boat will also be staying local, continuing to serve the Macclesfield and Peak Forest Canals.
