There's good news if you want to become a construction student at Macclesfield College, as their department could be about to get a brand new building.

According to the Cheshire East Planning website, Macclesfield College have submitted plans for a new detached construction department.

The planning application proposes "Construction of a new-build stand-alone single-storey building to the South of the existing college campus to provide dedicated Construction Skills teaching accommodation."

The Park Lane place of education's new planned building will be "south of the existing campus and near to the existing construction skills teaching accommodation", claims a planning document.

"The extension will provide an additional 466m2 of floor space in total."

Residents can comment on the plans until March, with a decision expected one early April.
