Cheshire East Council has appointed its leader, deputy leader and the chairs and vice-chairs of its service committees and other standing committees.

Yesterday's Annual Meeting of Cheshire East saw the re-election of Councillor Sam Corcoran as leader of the council and Councillor Michael Gorman as deputy leader.

Cheshire East Council also appointed committee chairs and vice-chairs, as follows:

Under the committee system, introduced by the council in May 2021, decisions are made by committees, which are responsible for different areas of the authority's activities. The political make up of each committee reflects the political make-up of the council.

Members debate and vote on decisions, so decisions are made collectively by the cross-party membership.

In other news, Cheshire East Council is to confirm their new Mayor, and the new Deputy Mayor will be from Macclesfield, being the Tytherington Independent Councillor David Edwardes.
