A Macclesfield business has just celebrated their first birthday.

Olive Open Kitchen and Deli, of 77 Mill Street, have marked a year of trading.

Friday October 13 was the official one-year anniversary for the business.

Olive Open Kitchen and Deli Owner Kemal Cakli and colleague Michele Loruso spoke with Macclesfield Nub News about this milestone achievement.

"A year has felt like five minutes", said Kemal.

"We couldn't be happier. Thanks to the community for welcoming us really.

We've got a really good following, we've got regular customers that come everyday and we absolutely love it. Michele makes cakes that nobody have heard of, but they trust us enough to come and give it a try."

Their products range from traditional Italian sweet treats like rum baba, beignets, and zeppole, to savoury delicacies of the Med like vine leaves and lasagne.

They try as much as possible to bring ingredients from the culture the dish is inspired from, so for example, flour in their cannolis will come from Italy.

"We want to sell things that you can't find anywhere else," added Kemal.

"And that is amazing, and that should be well-known.

A post on Instagram celebrating their birthday states

"Everything is made fresh on-site, and you can see into our kitchen.

"We've expanded on our mezze section as well, salads have gone up massively since we started.

"We've introduced now Turkish bean salad, tabouleh, carrot and garlic dip. Things that are hard to find in Macc."

When asked what his favourite moments of the last year was Kemal had this to say:

"When the queue is out the door, or when you get messages on social media that they loved their cake or the lunch they had that day," he revealed.

"We're still in infancy, a year is nothing for a business. But within a year, we are beyond where we wanted to be."

The business have a five-star rating on Google Reviews.

While the business is open six days a week, they want to spread the word of their catering service, where you can enjoy their food at home or at a party.

"We're trying to spread the word on our outdoor catering as well," said Michele.

"We are well known for our fresh Turkish mezze and our fresh Italian pastries, but want to be known for catering for private events as well.

Kemal went into detail about how their outdoor catering works.

"We're very flexible," he explained.

"We have catered for hot buffets, cold buffets, sweet buffets, savoury buffets. We can do anything.

"We want to cater for everyone and everything. Last week, we catered for a film production crew who were here two days in a row, then we had an office retirement party and a christening.

"The minimum party size is for five people but we can work to anything. We just made a vegan chilli for 40 people.

"We always discuss in detail with the client and keep them updated, and suggest ideas."

A vegan chilli the business recently made at a client's request.

In the near future, will also be adding winter warmers to their menu like pulled pork brioche Asian baps.

Further ahead they will seek to get into markets, and keep doing what they are doing.

"The community have been really supportive," added Michele.

"The other local businesses have been really supportive as well. Thank you everyone so much for your support."
