Macclesfield dental building's extension plans refused
A Macclesfield building has had plans for an extension refused by Cheshire East Council.
Mr Mudassar Akhtar had applied for a "proposed First Floor Extension to existing rear single storey extension" at a building in Macclesfield town centre.
The site is currently occupied by The Heathcote Dental and Impact Clinic, of 43 King Edward Street.
The extension would have created a further 34 square metres of floorspace.
However, it has been rejected for the impact the extension of the extension would have on neighbours, in regards 'to outlook and light'.
A planning officer said: "The scheme would conflict with SADPD Policies HOU11(3) and HOU12, which collectively seek, amongst other matters, to ensure new development does not adversely affect the amenity of neighbouring properties."
The privacy of those who live nearby was also put into question.
A planning document read: "The scheme would have an overbearing impact upon No. 41 because of the depth, siting, and height of the proposed first floor extension. Accordingly, the outlook from No. 41's ground floor and first floor rear windows, adjacent to the common boundary, would be dominated by the development as a result of the height and depth of the proposed extension in proximity to the windows."
So it appears the economic benefits from the business' expansion, has been outweighed by concern for those who reside nearby.
The dentist, which employs ten full-time staff, and six part-time employees, has been contacted for comment.
It is not known yet if plans will be revised and resubmitted. The rejected plans can be read HERE.
