A 12-year-old dog who has had a ruff time recently is seeking a new home.

RSPCA Macclesfield are looking to find a fur-ever home for Tyson.

Not only did his owner die, but he has also been abandoned.

A fellow pooch he was close to has also passed away.

RSPCA Macclesfield said: "Tyson desperately seeks a new home! Not only did he have to endure the passing of his owner, he was taken in by someone who then abandoned him. He also lost his lifelong canine friend. This is a lot of trauma, especially for an older dog."

"His face is creased and wrinkled with a lifetime of joys and sorrows. In each can be traced his journey – in all those tear-worn runnels and those smile-formed grooves. All those aspects of his past which have been lost to history are, instead, carved upon his face. Currently, the tale told is not a happy one.

"He hates the kennels. It's as simple as that. He hates the racket of adjacent dogs. He hates the comings and goings. He hates the stresses, the smells and the sights. He hates it all – but he hates, most of all, the fact that you are not with him, always. He is – as Staffies often are – both needy and devoted. He can't bear to be parted from you. He wants to sit with you, to cuddle into you; to him, the world extends no further than the distance between your outstretched arms. He is cursed by the bigness of his heart.

"As is, he is profoundly unsettled in our care. The kennel life suits some dogs much more than others – and Tyson is very much one of the 'others'. His panicked bark is the inelegant skirling so characteristic of his breed, as are those water-ringed eyes of his – so almost human – that he directs towards you. He is, without question, a guilt-tripper.

"Tyson will need an experienced owner, one who can offer support to his anxieties and who can help him find comfort and ease. He's an old fellow, unused to change, but given time, patience and empathy – he's a wonderful dog. One who will worship you when your self-esteem needs it. One who will make you feel as if you're the centre of the world.

"Tyson is looking for a pet free home, although he appears comfortable with unfamiliar dogs on lead, but primarily craves attention from people."

If you'd like to adopt the Staffordshire Bull Terrier, adoption rates for dogs over 8 years old start from £250.
