Macclesfield father to tackle 105-mile run to thank hospital staff that cared for his premature son

A Macclesfield father is preparing to run 105 miles through the Lake District to thank the hospital team that cared for his premature son.
Rob Massey is set to take on the Lakeland 100 at the end of July to raise vital funds for Macclesfield Hospital's Special Care Baby Unit.
It comes after his son, Dexter, was born eight weeks premature on January 27 this year and required five weeks of specialist, round-the-clock care at the SCBU.
Rob said: "Without the team in the unit we just don't know how we would have done it. They looked after the three of us throughout every tube feed, cannula and nappy change.
"Every staff member that supported us did so with an unparalleled level of kindness and authenticity that made us feel like a part of the furniture in the unit.
"Please donate generously to ensure future parents and premature babies can benefit from this same level of care and allow the fantastic nursing staff to continue to be even more fantastic."
The Lakeland 100 is considered the UK's toughest long-distance trail race, with 6,300 meters of alpine elevation and a strict 40-hour time limit.
