LUIS' A BLUEY. Macclesfield FC have announced the signing of 27-year-old Luis Morrison - who believe it or not - was a contestant on ITV's Love Island

The defender, who is dropping down a division to play for our town's new football club, joins an experienced Silkmen defence which includes ex-Premier League player Alex Bruce.

He has 341,000 followers on Instagram, as he appeared on Season 1 of the revived reality TV show Love Island.

It was there where he met his current girlfriend Chloe Elizabeth, and are expecting their first child who may be born in Macc.

He also has a daughter with another Love Island contestant, Cally Jane Beach.

On the pitch, Luis started his career in London with Arsenal. Not too far from his hometown of Crystal Palace.

He then made the move to Football League club Stevenage and would graduate from the Academy at Broadhall Way ahead of a spell in Scandinavia.

On returning to England from his trip to Sweden and Finland, Luis represented an array of largely southern-based non-league sides.

These included Farnborough, Maidenhead United, Hampton and Richmond, Grays and Concord Rangers.

In 2016, Luis then made the move north to join Altrincham and after a short spell with The Robins.

The Englishman then went on to sign for Alfreton Town, Nuneaton Town and Radcliffe.

He then agreed terms with Stafford Rangers at the start of the 2021/22 campaign - making six appearances for the NPL Premier Division side before arriving at the Leasing.com Stadium this afternoon.

The Silkmen said in a statement: "In what represents a real statement of intent from the Club, the 6ft 4" centre-half will unquestionably add defensive resilience to the squad and will be eligible to face Ashton Athletic on Saturday afternoon."

"We would like to wish Luis every success here at Macclesfield FC."

The defender joins the Silkmen has they sit at the top of the North West Counties Football League Premier Division table.

Despite leading the pack with no losses, there are four teams who have conceded less goals than the Silkmen.

Our town's new football club have conceded 7 goals in 6 games, with four of those goals coming in a 4-4 draw to Winsford Town.

But it is not the first time they have conceded four goals in a match - they also lost 6-4 to Squires Gate in the FA Cup.

Morrison's signing should hope to tighten the defence, and prevent collapse in high-scoring matches.

Luis leaves Stafford Rangers at 13th of the Northern Premier League Premier Division, which is one tier above Macc's current level of football.

You can also follow Macc's latest signing on Twitter, where he has a further 75,000 followers.

It follows a turbulent week with Robbie Savage and Rob Smethurst directly addressing improvements needed at the Leasing.com Stadium, following Monday's Bank Holiday brawls in the stands, amid the 1-0 victory of Congleton Town.
