Macclesfield-based primary, Pott Shrigley Church School welcomed new faces to reception class this year with an introductory climb on the school's adventure playground!

The Shrigley Road school, located in idyllic scenery, also has a new leader for the upcoming academy year.

EYFS teacher, Jo Turner, commented: "It's great to see the children settled in so quickly, they've got off to a brilliant start getting to know each other and are finding their way around the school. Our dedicated learning lodge is all set up with continuous provision and we're already underway with our phonics, maths, PE and Friday trips to Forest School"

The unique, rural school just five miles from Macclesfield town centre, has also welcomed a new Interim Headteacher Marie Maynard.

Marie Maynard: The new Head has made the trip 40 miles south to temporarily take over at Pott Shrigley's only primary school.

She joins from Belmont Primary School in Greater Manchester, and is delighted to join the school rated 'Good' by Ofsted.

After just a few days in the role Miss Maynard, remarked "What a wonderful school."

"I've had such a fabulous welcome from children, staff, parents and the wider community. This really is a very special school with kindness, enthusiasm and confidence shining through each and every child. The smaller environment and an increased focus on outdoor learning means the staff here really get to know the children really well which is evident in their tailored teaching."

The school still does have a few spaces in some year groups so, so if you're looking for something a little different for your child, please get in touch to arrange a visit.
