Following A-Level results, many young people are off to university but for some, there is uncertainty about what to do next.

But teenagers in Macclesfield can get support finance and getting to work with a free event on Wednesday.

Macclesfield school leavers can get help and support with the cost of living crisis at the two hour event, as well as taking the first steps into their career.

The Next Steps careers event is being held on Wednesday, September 7 from 1pm to 3pm at St Michael's Church.

The free event will take place at St. Michael's on Market Place.

New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire are offering the free programmes helping to get people into work across Cheshire.

This week it is Macclesfield's turn. There will be a plethora of career options there.

New Leaf is part of the Building Better Opportunities (BBO) Programme, funded by the European Social Fund, with match funding from The National Lottery Community Fund. Springboard Cheshire is funded by the European Social Fund, with match funding from delivery partners and strategic partners.

New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire can help young people to find good employment and a career that is right for them. Working with a mentor on the programme they will get personally tailored advice and guidance, including on money and help with bills as well as career advice.

People will get the chance to find out the range of support Springboard Cheshire and New Leaf can provide, what sort of jobs are out there right now and how to sign-up.

Andy Rawlins, project manager for New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire said: "This is an uncertain time for many young people – not just because they have just got their results and may not be sure what's next but also because of soaring prices and economic uncertainty that will be impacting them and their family.

"Our New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire programmes are all about helping people who aren't currently working to not just get a job but get into a good career that is right for them. While we are here to help people of all ages, we know young people may need that extra bit of help right now.

"As well as helping them to know what career options are out there for them, we can make sure they are accessing all the money help available to them. If you are interested in finding out more, or know someone who is, please come along to the event."

New Leaf and Springboard Cheshire are free voluntary programmes that support unemployed people living in Warrington and Cheshire to get them into or closer to employment. To be eligible for the programmes you must; live in Cheshire, have the right to live and work in the UK, and not be currently working.

The event is free to attend and there is no need to register in advance.
