A carehome near Macclesfield have reached out to our town to help a resident celebrate her 100th birthday in-style.

Peggy Sefton will turn 100 on Janaury 24 2023.

As well as receiving a card from the King, staff who care for her are organising a surprise delivery of 100 cards to mark her centenary year.

While Macclesfield Nub News wouldn't normally publish stories from Alderley Edge, Brookview Bupa Care Home have issued a written appeal to the people of Macclesfield to ensure that Peggy gets her surprise birthday treat of over 100 birthday cards.

Businesses and individuals in the Macclesfield area are invited to send Peggy a card. The address is linked below.

Carers at Brookview Bupa Care Home are calling on their local community to support the Peggy, who worked in the Royal London Hospital as a nurse during the Second World War.

Organised by Activity Co-ordinator Colette Mills, celebrations for Peggy's milestone birthday are set to include a party at the home surrounded by her loving family, which will be topped off with entertainment from local singer Deborah McCormick, who has been asked to perform some of the birthday girl's favourite hits.

When asked her advice for a long and happy life, Peggy commented: "My advice would be to always keep going and never give up. Live life to the full and have no regrets!"

Home Manager, Sharon Helliwell Short commented: "We are really looking forward to Peggy's 100th birthday. We are hoping that the community will send as many cards as possible to show her how truly special she is and help her celebrate in style. Celebrating milestone birthdays is incredibly important to us at Brookview - we love making a fuss of every individual resident, and Peggy is truly a character to be celebrated."
