A Macclesfield firm based on the Adlington Industrial Estate have made a big investment for 2024.

Kinaxia Logistics has upgraded its fleet with more than 200 bespoke new curtainsiders from Tiger Trailers.

The top 15 UK logistics group has invested more than £6m this year on the 205 new trailers and is looking to order more in 2024.

They are being deployed across the group as part of Kinaxia's move to standardise its curtainside trailer fleet.

2023 has been a big year for Kinaxia, which included them acquiring a competitor which went bust.

The new, high-specification postless trailers are designed for a 44-tonne operation and stand 4.5 metres tall.

Each is equipped with several safety features, including the Axscend TrailerMaster tracking system, which reports on the status and location of a trailer and alerts the user to any brake or tyre issues. It is designed to reduce the downtime of a vehicle, boost security and efficiency and ensure compliance.

Tiger Trailers has also installed the Axscend electronic brake performance monitoring system in each new Kinaxia curtainsider. The system provides dynamic, live remote monitoring of a trailer's braking performance.

Another feature is the Maple Fleet Services SafeConnect system, which is a safety device that ensures a trailer's brakes are applied and not inadvertently released during the coupling process, protecting the driver until they safely return to the cab and are in full control of the vehicle.

James Hathaway, Kinaxia's group fleet manager, said: "We are upgrading and standardising our equipment across the group to meet the needs of our customers.

"These new high-spec Tiger trailers ensure maximum safety, compliance and efficiency and have been very well-received by our team and our clients."

Kinaxia is a top 15 UK logistics group which has its headquarters in Macclesfield, Cheshire. It employs more than 1,700 staff nationwide with a fleet of over 850 vehicles transporting goods for the retail, leisure, food and drink and manufacturing sectors.

Tiger Trailers manufactures articulated HGV trailer and rigid truck bodywork, with a product range from curtainsiders, box vans and advanced moving double deck trailers to swap body demounts and specialist vehicles. Manufacturing takes place at its facility in Winsford, Cheshire.

Steve Pollock, business development director at Tiger Trailers, said: "Our sales, design and engineering teams worked closely with Kinaxia and other suppliers to ensure the new curtainsiders were manufactured with the customer's bespoke specifications and features.

"It's been a pleasure collaborating with James and others at Kinaxia, and we look forward to supporting them going forward."
