Macclesfield man arrested during police stop check in Prestbury appears in court

A man arrested following a police stop check in Prestbury has now been charged.
Paul Gostelow, of Duke Street in Macclesfield, has been charged with possession with intent to supply class A drugs, namely cocaine.
It comes after officers from Macclesfield Local Policing Unit stopped a silver Volkswagen Tiguan on Shirleys Drive in Prestbury on Monday, January 19.
After discovering a quantity of cocaine and drugs paraphernalia inside the vehicle, officers arrested the two occupants, Gostelow and a 59-year-old woman from Macclesfield.
Search warrants were then conducted at the homes of the two suspects, where approximately £40,000 cash was recovered along with more class A drugs.
Following his charge, Gostelow appeared at Chester Magistrates Court on Wednesday, January 21, where he was remanded in police custody.
He is next set to appear at Chester Crown Court on Wednesday, March 4.
Meanwhile, the 59-year-old woman has been released on conditional bail until April 19, 2026.
