The suspect behind a cannabis farm in Macclesfield has been named by police.

Viktor Ymeralilaj, 30 and of no fixed address, has been charged with producing a controlled drug of Class B, namely cannabis.

It comes after Cheshire Police executed a warrant at the former registry on Park Green on Monday, January 19.

Inside, officers discovered a cannabis farm.

Police also previously reported that the electricity had been bypassed.

Ymeralilaj appeared at Chester Magistrates on Wednesday, January 21.

He was remanded in custody to appear at Chester Crown Court on February 18.

Neither Cheshire East Council nor Macclesfield Town Council has any involvement with the property, with the former having sold the building in 2016.
