A man who caused a crash which left two drivers in hospital has avoided jail.

Wojciech Morka appeared at Crewe Magistrates Court on Tuesday (February 18) where he was handed a suspended sentence and a two-year driving ban.

It comes after the 44-year-old admitted to causing a crash on February 1 last year as a result of his dangerous driving.

Morka was driving down Oxford Road in an Audi A6, heading in the direction of the town centre.

He crashed into the back of Volkswagen T-Roc which caused the Volkswagen to collided with a Vauxhall Corsa travelling in the opposite direction.

The driver of the Corsa sustained a broken leg and was taken to Macclesfield District General Hospital via ambulance.

The Volkswagen driver was also taken to hospital, to be checked over for minor injuries.

Morka, of Collingwood Close in Macclesfield, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving, having been travelling at an excessive speed after drinking alcohol.

At court earlier this week he was handed a 12-month prison sentence, suspended for two years.

Court documents say Morka has never been in trouble with the police before and has shown 'great remorse' for his actions.

He was also disqualified from driving for 24 months, starting from the date he entered his guilty plea – January 13, 2025.

Morka must also pay £4,000 in compensation.
