It was spotted again in August.
And now this March, it happened again. Reports of white, puffy foam on the River Bollin was logged on Thursday March 7.
One month on, the Environment Agency have confirmed to Macclesfield Nub News that the offender has not been caught.
An Environment spokesperson said: "We would like to thank members of the public who reported the issue of foam on the River Bollin to us. We remain committed to safeguarding the environment and alongside members of the community are disappointed that the River Bollin continues to suffer these types of events.
"Following the initial reports, Environment officers immediately responded and undertook enquiries into the potential sources. Unfortunately, they were unable to identify the original source on this occasion.
"We will continue to monitor the situation on the River Bollin and encourage all members of public to report any pollution incidents they see to our free 24-hour hotline on 0800 80 70 60."
The amount of wildlife this latest incident has killed is unknown.
The River Bollin has given so much to Macclesfield, from the silk industry to their well-known canals. But it seems that with these regular environmental disasters, that the river is not revered by all in Macclesfield.d.
The news comes at a time where the state of Britain's rivers and lakes has become turbocharged to the top of the political agenda.
It remains to be seen whether any of Macclesfield's general election candidates will address the frequent pollution the River Bollin.
Extinction Rebellion Macclesfield has expressed their disappointment to the outcome on social media.
"We were shocked to see that there were more reports of toxic foam flowing down the river causing loss of fish and aquatic wildlife," they said.
"The environment agency must act and the culprits must be found and stopped before the river becomes a dead zone."
