A Menopause Café is returning to Upton Priory.

The event at Macclesfield Leisure Centre will be starting back on Wednesday January 18, from 7.00pm – 8.30pm, and will take place first and third Wednesday of each month.

The evening, relaunched in collaboration with Crewe charity Motherwell Cheshire CIO, will also be held at leisure centres across Cheshire East.

At the Menopause Café the community can discuss menopausal symptoms, tips or worries in a confidential and inspiring environment.

All are welcome to come and have a chat, grab a drink and talk about the menopause. You can discuss how you are feeling, your symptoms, ask questions and get support from others.

Donna Williamson Senior Manager at Everybody Health and Leisure commented: "We are delighted to be working in partnership with Motherwell Cheshire CIO to provide these cafes across Cheshire."

"The Menopause Café is an accessible, respectful and confidential space, open for all, regardless of gender or age, with no intention of leading people to any conclusion, product or course of action. We look forward to welcoming the community at these sessions in our centres."

Menopause is when periods stop due to reduced levels of hormones. For most women, it happens between the ages of 45 and 55, but it can happen earlier. It can cause symptons like anxiety, mood swings, hot flushes, headaches among others.

You don't have to be a member of Macclesfield Leisure Centre to attend the sessions.

It can impact careers, relationships and more. A space such as this means nobody has to feel alone, and people can tackle it together.

Kate Blakemore from Motherwell Cheshire CIO added: "Our aim is to facilitate as many people as possible talking about the Menopause. There's a lot of people who don't realise why they feel the way they feel. It's trying to make women aware and help them provide a support network.

"I would like to thank Everybody Health and Leisure who are helping to bring these relaxed Menopause Cafés to the heart of our local communities and to our local GPs in Cheshire who are showing their support in helping us shape the groups. We encourage everyone to come along and join the conversation."

In addition, Motherwell Cheshire CIO are delivering Menopause Awareness workshops and Menopause for Managers courses to Everybody Health and Leisure staff to better understand the menopause both at work and at home.

There is plenty of parking at the evening event, given it takes place at Macclesfield Leisure Centre.
