Macclesfield MP joins in GCSE results day celebrations at Tytherington School

Macclesfield's MP joined in the results day celebrations at Tytherington School.
The pupils who collected their GCSEs today (August 21) were in Year 7 when the pandemic hit, severely disrupting their first year in secondary school.
Tim Roca MP paid was on hand to congratulate the youngsters, praising the resilience and determination they have shown to overcome the disruption to their education.
Headteacher, Manny Botwe, said: "A huge well done to the GCSE Class of 2025!
"As you will know, this year group faced an enormous amount of disruption and uncertainty at the start of their secondary school journey as a result of the pandemic.
"I'm incredibly proud that they have shown such grit and determination to secure tremendous success. These results represent an improvement on last year's GCSE results and build on our excellent A-Level results last week. We are delighted!"
Mr Roca added: "A huge congratulations to all Macclesfield students receiving their GCSE results today!
"You should be so proud of the effort and resilience you've shown throughout your studies. Today is a chance to celebrate with your families, friends, and teachers who have supported you along the way.
"Remember, these results open doors, but they don't define your future. Whatever your next step - whether it's sixth form, college, an apprenticeship, or something else - you have so many opportunities ahead.
"Wishing you every success in the exciting journeys still to come.
"Thank you to Tytherington School for welcoming me to share in celebrating your fantastic achievements."

While many students at Tytherington School have excelled and shown impressive growth during their studies, there are a few who represent the commitment and accomplishments of the year group.
Right from the start of his Tytherington School journey, Daniel Brown has always gone the extra mile and has been involved in numerous extra-curricular activities.
While sitting his examinations, Daniel was coming into school to continue to offer chess matches to other students in Mr Brown's club and now progresses to our Sixth Form with a set of Grade 9s across the board.
Maisie Wallinger, Emma Stafford, Heidi Thorley-Shaw, Theo Wood, Matthew Bagley, Dillon Clarke, James Donlon and George Maddock all returned immediately into school after their exams to take up roles of performing in or supporting our hugely successful and entertaining Little Shop of Horrors summer show.
They have all achieved a great set of results and were ever-present members of Tytherington school's summer musicals and Christmas Pantomimes.

Cath Linaker, head of Year 11, and Andy Pilbury, deputy eadteacher, both expressed their pride in the accomplishments of the Class of 2025.
Mr Pilbury stated: "We are thrilled with what our Class of 2025 have achieved and the young people that they have grown to become.
"The achievements of this cohort encompass not only academic success but also excellent performances in the performing arts, as well as football, netball, cricket, athletics and swimming.
"The breadth of talent, plus approach and attitude demonstrated by these students is exceptional and is certain to be evident as they progress in their future endeavours."
