Pet owners are being encouraged to get their furry friends checked for a common health problem.

Wright and Morten Vets in Macclesfield are currently offering a discounted rates on dental assessments and comprehensive cleans.

These checks can help prevent dental disease, which if left untreated can cause a number of issues.

Emma Avery RVN, the practice's specialist dental nurse, said: "Approximately 70-80% of dogs and cats develop dental disease by the age of three.

"It is one of the most common health problems seen in practice, regularly detected through routine health exams.

"Introducing preventative care from a young age is so important as not only does dental disease cause pain and bad breath in our pets, if left untreated can lead to tooth loss, difficulty eating and infections that can affect other vital organs."

Until April 12, a dental assessment and comprehensive clean at Wright and Morten Vets is priced at £349, down from the usual price of £435.

The offer is available for dogs and cats who are over one years old and are fit and healthy enough to undergo a general anesthetic.

Owners receive a visual assessment from a vet to identify any dental issues, a comprehensive clean of all teeth (scale and polish) and advice on how to care for your pets teeth at home.

Meanwhile, Emma can consult with owners, discuss preventative measures and help with treatments for those for those diagnosed with dental disease.
