Four local dance teachers have joined forces to bring new dance classes to Macclesfield.

The quartet have started Shall We Dance Cheshire, who will be hosting nine classes a week from Prestbury Village Hall.

The first classes begin from 6pm on Sunday July 30, and it is not too late to join.

Macclesfield Nub News met with three of the four teachers, to find out what the new recurring event is all about:

"We were teaching together at another Macclesfield venue which has now closed", said teacher Sian Rowsell.

"So we have started a new school together, which begins this Sunday. We have decades of professional experience between us."

"We love Prestbury Village Hall as a venue as it has three rooms, and as our classes have different skill levels it means we can teach multiple classes under one roof at the same time."

All classes are £6 per person, cash only, with the full list of classes and skill levels at the bottom of this article.

"Sian and I work together on the sequence dance classes", said teacher Liz Ogden.

"We all teach ballroom and Latin American dance", said teacher Christine Bailey.

"Myself and Fiona also specialise in ladies on Latin Line dancing on a Sunday evening."

"Dancing is excellent for those seeking physical, low-impact exercise", added Liz.

"Mentally, it is good exercise as you have to remember the order of the steps. And socially it is great for social interaction, especially when you get older, as it is easy to get isolated.

"We've had people in our groups that have created friendships that have lasted 20 years."

Classes have on average 30 people, however, some have smaller class sizes for more advanced skill levels.

"All four of us also offer personal tuition for those who want to improve their technique or master some steps they're struggling with", added Sian.

"We also get a lot of wedding dance choreography bookings, whether that is the couple or perhaps a group dance for the groomsmen."
