A Macclesfield business has donated an incredible amount to charity.

Moneybox Wills and Trusts, a willwriter based in Tytherington, have raised £5896 for a Macclesfield charity.

And this figure is without Gift Aid, so it could top seven grand once calculated, which would be over double the amount Moneybox raised doing the same fundraiser last year.

Macclesfield Nub News met with Joe Etherington of Moneybox Wills and Trusts, and Beth England Fundraising Officer of East Cheshire Hospice.

"To have raised £5896 is amazing", said Joe.

"Last year we did a will week. This year was a month. So I had no idea what we would have raised with it being a month instead of a week.

"To be able to raise almost £6000 for them without Gift Aid is fantastic."

The figure is more impressive when you take into account the ongoing cost of living crisis, and given the novelty of the fundraiser could have potentially worn off third time around.

Joe's efforts are part of a Hospice-wide campaign with two other Macclesfield willwriters, but Moneybox Wills and Trusts have raised the most.

It was the highest amount of money East Cheshire Hospice have ever raised during will month.

East Cheshire Hospice's Individual Giving Manager Beth England said: "Thank you so much, it is our best performing will month that we have ever done."

"Thank you to everyone who took part. We had 55 appointments booked across three Macclesfield willwriters, and thank you to Joe who helped raise that amazing total. We could not do it without him."

Corporate Fundraiser Luke Oldham added, "As a fairly new member of the Income Generation Team at the Hospice, I continue to be blown away by the commitment and dedication from the members of our community such as Joe and the other firms who took part in Will Month."

Joe works from the Tytherington Business Park, at Sycamore House.

He deals with wills, trusts, and lasting powers of attorney.

"There were people who saw us this year, who wanted to take part last year which was great to see," added Joe.

"The people who took part shared lovely personal stories about how the Hospice has touched them, which makes the feeling of fundraising even more special.

"Working with East Cheshire Hospice has been fantastic, they are right on the ball with anything to do with their fundraising, which makes things a lot easier for us.

"I can't say in a sentence how grateful I am. We are really thankful to everyone who has taken part.

"We'd love to do this again, we will keep doing it every year. It may even be another Will Month."
