A 2021 planning application to make a disused Macclesfield office into flats has been revived.

The offices above Mail Boxes Etc. on 2 Park Green, had permission to be turned into accommodation approved in mid-2021.

It was approved on multiple conditions, with the applicant now wanting to disregard the second one by trying their luck again with another application.

The second condition required the multi-storey site to include details of parking of cars and bikes, for which critics suggested the dwelling plans lacked.

Businesses that used to be located in the building include a design consultants, an estate agents and a maid service. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)

It required a full Parking and Servicing Strategy shall be implemented in full prior to first occupation of the residential units and shall be retained thereafter.

This was to "to encourage sustainable transport modes, and to ensure the approved development does not negatively affect transport and highways impacts of the retained and approved uses."

However, it appears the developer wants this condition removed and to renovate the flats and facilities at the same time.

The flats will span three floors and comprise of 22 apartments.

The potential apartments are within a stone's throw of Mill Street. (Image - Alexander Greensmith / Macclesfield Nub News)
If the discharge of condition is improved, this means that real signs of change at this Macclesfield town centre site could be seen this year.

Salford business Newpark Commercial are behind the development. They will be contacted for comment.
