A 44-year-old poster of a band which comprised musicians from Macclesfield has sold for big money.

A vintage Joy Division poster by the artist Jon Savage has sold in Merseyside for £850.

The poster features intriguing imagery of a syrupy substance falling from a person's head, onto a handheld teaspoon, amid the background of urban skies.

Liverpool's Omega Auctions described the lot as "Rarely seen original mini poster/flyer, to feature a Jon Savage design for a July 1979 Joy Division show at Factory, Measures 21 x 30cm. VF condition."

The buyer, who has been kept anonymous, could have also scored another vintage piece of Joy Division merchandise that went for sale at the same auction for even more money.

The poster can be viewed in greater detail here.
