Tilly's in Macclesfield is giving free sweets to families who enter the Macclesfield Bikeathon.

The 12-mile bike ride around Macclesfield will take place next Saturday 23 October, and you have until the day before to enter to get some free sweeties.

Tilly's Sweets & Treats will give all family members partaking a bag of sweeties.

You simply have to purchase a £25 family ticket, and can show your proof of purchase in the store.

The business on 54 Mill Street has served our town for almost half-a-decade.

The Macclesfield Bikeathon will raise money for Duke Street youth charity Just Drop In.

Lorraine Davies, Director of Tilly's Sweets, came up with the idea to help out the local fundraising event.

"We've got all types of pick-and-mix bagged up to give to any families who enter," she said.

"We selected the favourites that everyone likes and put them into separate bags, so we can cater for everyone's dietary needs.

"Those who enter the Macclesfield Bikeathon can choose from such as a vegan mix or a dairy-free mix. We even have a non-fizzy mix.

"As well as the four we'll be giving away per family, we'll have some sweets to sell on the day as well.

"Sadly, there are no bicycle sweets, we can't get ahold of any at the minute!

"The Bikeathon is fantastic family fun and it is a great memory maker for everybody."

Macclesfield Bikeathon raised over £5000 in recent years for charity.

It is organised by Darren Allgood of Macclesfield biking business Allgood Cycling.

He said: "I love managing Bikeathon as it brings the Macclesfield community together, traders, town Council, local charity and most of all our wonderful riders."

"Tilly's sweet shop are the latest shop to help by offering some yummy sweet bags for our family riders. Thank you so much."

As well as the family 12-mile course, there are longer, more strenuous courses across the Cheshire Plain for athletic cyclists.

The 12-mile course starting from Market Place is designed for families with young children.

The 33 or 64 mile courses, which will be frequented by Macclesfield Wheelers Club, is a tougher challenge.

Young teenagers can come on the longer courses, but they must be accompanied by an adult.
