Macclesfield police officers struck lucky on a random stop-and-search in our town.

Two teenagers are among the arrested, as Cheshire Police have seized a quantity of Class A drugs and multiple knives in our town.

This is following a vehicle stop check in Macclesfield yesterday afternoon.

Just one mile from their Brunswick Street station, Macclesfield police cars would find two knives and undisclosed illegal substances.

At around 3.50pm on Tuesday 1 February, officers stopped a grey Mercedes A180 on Hulley Road.

During a search of the vehicle officers discovered two large machete style knives.

The three occupants were all arrested and taken to custody, where officers discovered a quantity of Class A drugs during further searches.

All of the arrested are not from Macclesfield. Two were children.

The trio, a 46-year-old man from Eccles and two teenage boys (age 14 and 15) from Salford, have all been arrested on suspicion of possession with intent to supply Class A drugs and possession of a bladed article in a public place.

All three remain in police custody where they are assisting officers with their enquiries.

Detective Inspector John O'Driscoll, of the Eastern Crime Hub, said: "This is a great result which has resulted in the removal of a number of dangerous weapons and illegal drugs from the streets of Cheshire.

"The corrosive effect of illegal drugs on communities cannot be understated. Behind every single drug deal there is vulnerability and misery and we are committed to tackling the problem and targeting those involved."

Hulley Road is in the Macclesfield Police ward of Macclesfield Hurdsfield.

Last February saw the lowest number of cases of reported crimes in the ward, with just 30 recorded.

However, there were 58 confirmed crimes - according to police.uk stats - just two months ago.
