On 24 February 2022, Russia invaded Ukraine in a full-scale invasion of the Russo-Ukrainian War, which began in 2014.
937 days later, with many lives lost, and the war falling out of the news agenda, aid groups across Europe and indeed the world providing support to those affected by the conflict.
And Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Community Interest Company has just passed a major milestone.
The first Ukrainian support group set up after the was, established by a family with Ukrainian roots, have just delivered their 150th aid-filled vehicle into Ukraine.
Anne Hancock, of Macclesfield Ukrainian Community Interest Company, and who speaks Ukrainian, told more to Macclesfield Nub News.
"Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid have driven and donated 151, aid-filled vehicles into Ukraine, with another convoy currently in the planning stage," she said.
"Our 5th, 40-foot delivery for 2024 arrived safely at the beginning of September.
"80% of the aid was donated from hospitals.
"There were pallets full of medical aid."
The milestone package contained six operating theatre beds, regular hospital beds, physio walking bars, drip stands, cabinets and drugs trolleys, walking frames, commodes.
Incredibly, it also contained over hundred wheelchairs.
It also contained two full pallets of fruit snack bars donated by the Zombie Food Company, tyres from TYRZ in Bollington, boxes of hand knitted children's wear, defibrillators, rescue chairs and stretchers.
Another local business to donate, on Pickford Street, was and two pallet loads of uniforms and sports from Finesse Schoolwear. School stationery supplies and laptops for the children were donated by followers of the Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Facebook page.
Non-perishable food, pet food, sleeping bags, blankets, candles, USB powered torches, battery banks, nappies, wet wipes and incontinence pads completed out this milestone delivery.
Any of the aforementioned items would make an ideal thing to donate to their Gunco Lane drop-off point, along with desktop computers which the group are currently compiling to send in their next delivery.
"Thank you to everyone for their support," said Anne.
"Recent deliveries have also been to kindergartens and schools. Ukrainian school children are happy that we know of their difficulties, and are supporting them.
"We've gifted clothes, including sportswear. We donated wet wipes, first aid and food to be distributed to the boys on the front line.
Earlier this year, the group rebranded to Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Community Interest Company, formerly known as Macclesfield Ukrainian Aid Collection Point.
Members of the public can deliver items to donate at Unit 2 Garrison House, Byrons Lane, Macclesfield.
Monetary donations can also be made via the bank details on the image above, or this JustGiving link.
Over 70 volunteers help keep the operation going.
