Macclesfield: What to expect at the last Treacle Market of the year?

By Alex Greensmith 16th Dec 2022

It is the last Treacle Market of the year this Sunday December 18, and of course the last before Christmas.

Here's what you can expect from 10am to 3:30pm.

"There's nothing new stall-wise as all the regulars are raring to go being Christmas," said Co-Organiser Becky Thompson.

"Music-wise there is a full-on traditional feel with Annie's Saints and Sinners making their return after resting their performing muscles last month. So there will be plenty of time to rock around the Christmas tree.

"The Moss Rose Community Band will perform after on Market Place, as will Bollin Brass Quintet on Chestergate. Gemma with her Voicebox will be on Chestergate.

"Foodwise there is fresh produce to enjoy over the festive period like cheese and meat, and the much-loved Market Place mushroom stall are back after a short absence.

"There's a stall called Owl Farm which are selling pigs-in-an-blanket kits, which could be a bit of fun for the kids to contribute to the Christmas dinner.

"Brewbox are the mobile bar, and Feastable are the coveted Market Place catering slot outside Five Clouds.

"Thank you to everyone for your support of the Treacle Market over the past year, we wish you all a Merry Christmas and look forward to seeing you all in 2023."
