A Macclesfield woman will skydive today in memory of her late partner.

Georgia Leah, who works as a primary school teaching assistant in east Macclesfield, will jump from a plane in Shropshire to raise funds for the charity Pancreatic Cancer UK.

This was after her husband Leon Leah passed away from pancreatic cancer earlier this year.

Leon, who was a beloved member of the community and drayman at Wincle Brewery, has already had thousands of pounds raised in his name for a variety of national and local charities.

Georgia chose to do the skydive in October, as it is the birthday month for both her and Leon. (Image - Georgia Leah)

Now, it is the turn of Pancreatic Cancer UK, with Georgia's skyfall having raised a whopping £1145 so far, and you too can donate by clicking HERE.

"The support I have had from everyone has been incredible", said Georgia.

"Every month since Leon died, I have done something to raise money for.

"We did [a fundraiser for] East Cheshire Hospice last time, and I will do The Christie Macclesfield next as they also helped him.

"The fact that people are still donating is amazing. Thank you so much."

Georgia will descend from an airfield in Whitchurch, Shropshire.

48 people have donated to the charity fundraiser so far.

She only intended to generate £500 for Pancreatic Cancer UK, and has instead raised over double that.

Instead of asking for birthday cards or presents this year, she asked her family and friends to donate. But she has se en donations come from all over, and they continue to come in.

"Someone said to me after Leon had died that 'you have to find a positive'", added Georgia.

"Now that I look at it, I have raised so much money for different charities, that I can identify that as the positive.

"I would hate to think another family [and they are] would have to go through this.

"My daughter was two-and-a-half when her dad died, that breaks my heart. It is so cruel and so unfair.

Pancreatic cancer has one of the lowest survival rates.

"I want to try and change that, and I could not do it without everyone else's support. I could not raise this money all by myself, so that is why I am jumping out of a plane."

Georgia has never skydove before. But did complete an impressive feat of climbing Snowdon for a Macclesfield charity last month, alongside Leon's former colleagues.

Leon did used to skydive, so the way of raising money, as well as the act of raising money itself will honour him.

She has raised almost £6000 (and counting) for charity in the seven months since Leon passed.
