A Gawsworth farm is welcoming Macclesfield down to pick pumpkins at their farm for another year.

Libby's Patch, co-ran by farmer Daniel Thornicroft, will open their pumpkin patch to the public for 13 days in October.

It is an affordable alternative to supermarkets, with green, yellow and white pumpkins avaliable as an added bonus.

Pumpkins are not limited per customer, providing you pay for them. Daniel explained how it all works.

"Libby's Patch is a fun family day out in Gawsworth," he said.

"We have three seasonal events throughout the year when we welcome everyone down.

"In the summer we have a sunflower maze, in winter we have Christmas trees, and in autumn right now we are doing pumpkin picking.

"To gain entry to pick your own pumpkin, it is £5 per car. That covers everyone in your car.

"That guarantees your entry and time slot. Then come and pick your wheelbarrows across our patch of ten acres, and pay for any pumpkins you pick.

"Pumpkins start from £1. We planted them in May, and we must have tens of thousands here.

"I planted 50,000 seeds. There's 33 varieties of pumpkin for you to choose from.

"We've got a little mobile café you can chill out with, slushy machines for the kids, and new this year we have pizzas from my wife Bethan.

"There's homemade cupcakes and hotdogs as well. We try and do everything ourselves.

"You can also from now prebuy your Christmas tree, and get £5 knocked-off per tree.

"My favourite part about doing this is seeing people's faces when they are pulling the pumpkin out. Or kids learning that there's more than just the orange pumpkins you can get from Tesco."

"You can book your pumpkin picking slot at www.libbyspatch.com, during every weekend in October from 10-6pm.

"We'll also be open in the last week in October before Halloween which is also the half-term."

The site also houses a horse track livery.

The Gawsworth farm also makes annual donations to East Cheshire Hospice.

Libby's Patch is located on Shellow Ln, Gawsworth, Macclesfield SK11 9RS.
