Macclesfield's new sushi restaurant finally welcomes first diners

Macclesfield's new Japanese restaurant has welcomed its first diners.
After months of anticipation, Zumuku Sushi on Chestergate has opened its doors to dine-in customers.
Located at the former home of Basilico, life couldn't have started much better for managing director Edward Cayton and his team.
He said: "The first couple of weeks have been amazing!
"The restaurant has been very well received so far."

Edward has been working in the hospitality industry for over 25 years, having started as a kitchen porter at a Thai restaurant in Manchester when he was 15.
Zumuku launched in 2017 and now has 12 restaurants and six 'dark kitchens'.
Asked what drew the company to Macclesfield, Edward said: "Macclesfield has always been on the radar but we could never quite find the right unit.
"Finally, all the stars aligned."
He added: "I feel we are really well suited to Chestergate.
"It's definitely an up-and-coming part of Macclesfield.
"We feel we really fit the area next to businesses like Suburban Green and Wood Fire Smoke.
"It's a really nice community to be a part of."

Edward and franchisee Ka Meng San had hoped to welcome diners in time for Christmas.
However, the unit required more work than initially expected.
So, they decided to get up and running with just the kitchen, taking their first takeaway orders on November 18, 2024.
On March 5, they finally launched their dine-in service.
But they're not done there, with plans to open a karaoke room upstairs.
"There isn't really anything like that in Cheshire," Edward said.
"With Zumuku, our aim is to provide really good quality Japanese product but in a casual setting where everyone is welcome."
