Mayor looks to celebrate the young people of Macclesfield with annual civic awards

The mayor is looking to shine a light on the achievements of the town's young people.
Nominations have opened for the Mayor of Macclesfield's Civic Awards 2026, celebrating members of the community who have made a difference.
With councillor Emma Gilman's mayoral year having focused on the youngsters of Macclesfield, so to will her civic awards, with nominations open only to those under the age of 25.
Councillor Gilman said: "At the start of my mayoral year I chose a theme which was to champion young people.
"For my civic awards, I want to celebrate the remarkable achievements, talents, and contributions of those young people from all across the town.
"I implore all of you to please to nominate a young person who you believe deserves an award.
"There are so many of them out there who do so much fantastic work in our community. "

- Ambassador for Macclesfield
- Pride of Macclesfield
- Lifetime Achievement
Every school in Macclesfield has been notified of this year's changes and is encouraged to put forward pupils for nomination.
Cub and scout groups as well as individuals are also urged to nominate a young person who has shown themselves to be one of a kind.
