A Macclesfield woman has crowdfunded the catering kitchen of her dreams, for her hearty meal delivery service.

Charis Jones is the founder of Feastable, a weekly changing menu cooked fresh that can be delivered to your doorstep.

Feastable's main goal is to bring people together through food.

Everything on the menu is either vegan or vegetarian, with the option of adding butcher's meat, so that everyone can enjoy the same meal.

"We're bold. We create bold unapologetic food," Charis said.

"I think that as a society we get thrown so many messages about food having moral values, that what we've lost is the joy of eating.

"We want to bring people back to that universal experience of sharing food, and feeling the joy that that brings to your body."

Charis started this journey as a means of survival during lockdown, cooking for her neighbours, due to the challenges of being a professional personal chef following the start of pandemic.

Charis cooks all dishes herself, and regularly rotates the menu to keep things exciting. She also hosts pop-up events across Macclesfield.

"It was a Friday when I started doing it," she recalled.

"So everyone would sit in their individual gardens, and I would put food on the front doorstep and everyone would take it in and eat it in the garden.

"Then one day I just got bold. I put it on the local Bollington Facebook page, and said these are the dishes we're doing this week if you'd like to order please message me.

And with that, Feastable took off from there.

Charis described her job as "Utter joy".

"When you see people sit together and share stories and share emotions and share an experience and you know that they're doing that because your food has brought them together, that's magic," she added.

"You know that you're enriching them, you're enriching their bodies and their souls at the same time and I think that that is such an honour and a privilege to do."

While Feastable only delivers to Macclesfield at the moment, Charis has the ambition to eventually expand her business further.

"There's a really strong small business community in Macclesfield, and it's really embraced us," she said of her favourite thing about Macclesfield.

"There's a real support system and a support network between us all and I think that's something that I personally, in the many, many cities, places, towns I've lived, I haven't experienced like I have here ever before."

After hitting capacity at the current kitchen, Charis is opening her very own unit in mid-July.

Her new state of the art kitchen was partially funded with £12,000 of donations from her loyal customers and the local business community.

Feastable is located on Unit 6, Waterside Mill, Waterside, Macclesfield SK11 7HG.

You can order from Charis when she fires up her new kitchen next month, by messaging her on Instagram. You can also head to her website.

Furthermore, once open, Feastable will be feeding the good people of Macclesfield daily from their unit through the FEASTABLE Lunch Club where they will be serving one pot Monday-Friday from 12.00-1.30pm.
