Meet the Macclesfield woman and her partner who organise some of the north west's friendliest race events.

Crazy Legs Events is run by husband-and-wife team Bill and Adele Shone.

Adele, who is from Macclesfield, and is a former insurance worker, joined up with her partner's business five years ago.

Crazy Legs organise athletic events from running, cycling, and relay races that are open to most abilities.

Whether you are doing it for charity, professionally or just to time yourself: Crazy Legs have you covered. And many of their races are in - or a stone's throw - from Cheshire.

Long-known to Bollington, Macclesfield and Wilmslow running or cycling clubs, the business has decided to spread their wings in our local community by partnering up with Macclesfield Nub News.

It is a no-brainer for Adele, having grown-up in Macclesfield.

And she is keen to get more people from her hometown to sign up to their next duathlon (running and cycling race) in Darley Moor near Ashbourne.

The event takes place on the weekend of September 16 and September 17. Macclesfield residents can get their tickets HERE.

Called a 'duathlon', it involves a run, a cycle and then another run to finish.

There are courses designed for all ages, from children to grown-ups.

The runs are around the outside of the race track, whereas the cycling takes place on the actual race track.

The event is a great family day out, with music, food and an overall celebratory vibe.

This atmosphere reflects the friendly values of the brand:

"We know many of our racers by name, we like to think we are one big community," said Adele.

Many just take part in Crazy Legs Events to keep active, but others do it to raise money for good causes.

"Our races are open to anybody, you don't have to have had any prior experience", added Adele.

"If you have never done one before, you might have the impression that it is an elitist sport. But our entry prices are deliberately low to attract people who have never done something like this before.

"All you need is a roadworthy bike and helmet, a pair of shoes you can run in and a great sense of fun."

"There's free, basic camping at the venue the night before your event. Parking is free and we have a coffee and cake an on-site during the races."

For any questions about taking part, please call 07858 521570 or email [email protected]. (Image - Macclesfield Nub News)

To enter the race, adults pay £33.50 if they are a member of the British Triathlon Federation, and £38.50 if they are not. Kids pay less as their route is shorter.

"We have cultivated a running brand that is a community", said Bill.

"Crazy Legs is a race organisation company that has been running for ten years.

"All the races are chip timed and your results will be available online shortly after your race.

"We arrange ten to 12 events of our own in a year.

"We also as a company provide race timing services for 40-45 races held by other organisers.

"I've worked in events before we did this, it used to be me and my two business partners but they have retired and since 2018 Adele has come in.

You may also know the Crazy Legs name from hosting races in local places like Poynton, Adlington and Bollington.

"The beauty of [the upcoming] Darley Moor race is that it is on a motor racing circuit", added Bill.

"It is traffic-free, pretty flat and feels great to run on. It is a lapped course so it is a great spectator sport as well.

"It is a really fun day out. There are shorter races for Juniors on the Saturday, and everyone else on the Sunday as well.

"And if plans change in the days before the race, you can transfer your race number to a friend or family member.

"There's just the two of us in the office dealing with everything that comes in. We probably have more flexibility than the bigger organisers. Every enquiry comes to us and is dealt with quickly. Our local knowledge is very useful and on race days we make sure we are visible and approachable as the Race Organisers."

"Our message to the people of Macclesfield would be to come along, it is good fun, reasonably priced, we look after you and try to make the place as welcoming and stress-free as possible," concluded Adele.
