Merger of bus routes confirmed in bid to improve 'cross-town accessibility'

Two Macclesfield bus routes are set to be merged.
Cheshire East Council has announced the impending merger of D&G's 3 and 10 bus services.
Coming into effect September 1, it is hoped this will 'improve cross-town accessibility'.
A spokesperson for the council, said: "The council is working in partnership with D&G Bus to enhance local bus services as part of its Bus Service Improvement Plan.
"D&G is merging their 3 and 10 services in a single service numbered 10. This is effective from September 1, 2025.
"This means that the deregistration notices for the 3 and 10 need to be viewed alongside the registration notice for the new 10 service."

Currently, the 10 runs from Macclesfield Bus Station to the Cotton Tree in Bollington, via Hurdsfield and Tytherington.
Meanwhile, the 3 runs from Macclesfield Bus Station to the Weston estate, via Macclesfield College on Park Lane.
The council spokesperson added: "The merging of the 3 and 10 services will improve cross-town accessibility.
"There will be a link between residential areas in the west of Macclesfield (Weston estate) and Hurdsfield Industrial Estate, as well as from Tytherington to Macclesfield College, meaning that students will not have to change services in the town centre.
"D&G and the council will collaborate on the promotion of the new service in advance of its launch in September."
