Mixologists share their favourite festive tipples for you to try

Who doesn't love a cocktail?

Whether you're hosting a party over the holidays or just fancy getting creative in the kitchen, there are plenty of tipples to try this festive season.

If you don't know your margaritas from your mojitos then never fear, as a number of local bars have shared with us their favourite winter cocktail recipes.

So, grab a glass and crack open a bottle – it's time to get mixing.

The Griffin House Cocktail (Credit: The Corner Cauldron)

Rumba (Pickford Street in Macclesfield and Swan Bank in Congleton)

Baileys Espresso Martini

  • 25ml baileys
  • 25ml vanilla vodka
  • 12.5ml simple syrup (equal parts water and sugar boiled together until combined. Alternatively add sugar to coffee)
  • 50-75ml coffee
  • Shake all together with ice then strain into a glass

Spiced Apple Sidecar

  • 25ml brandy
  • 25ml fireball (or some equivalent)
  • 1/2 lemon (juice)
  • 12.5ml simple syrup
  • 25ml apple juice
  • Shaken or stirred with ice

Cherry Bakewell Cuba Libre

  • 25ml disaronno (or an equivalent)
  • 25ml Cherry rum
  • 1/2 lime (juice)
  • Topped up with coke

Griffin House Cocktail

  • 50ml scotch whiskey
  • 25ml Amaretto
  • A generous pinch of cinnamon powder
  • A few dashes of Angostura Bitter
  • Shake aggressively and pour over ice.
  • Why not also hover a flame over your cocktail and sprinkle another pinch of cinnamon powder for added warmth and sparkle!

G&T (Back Wall Gate, Macclesfield)

Berry Bellini

  • Cool a flute glass for a couple of minutes by filling it with ice, then tip out
  • Add a shot of berry syrup of your choosing ( raspberry, strawberry or grenadine work well )
  • If you want a slightly stronger cocktail add 15 ml of flavoured gin, vodka or rum to match with your syrup
  • Top with Prosecco and a splash of soda water
  • Garnish with berries of your choice.
  • This can also be made as a mocktail by omitting the spirit and using soda water or lemonade instead of prosecco

Baileys White Russian

  • Add 50 ml vodka to a small glass
  • 25 ml coffee liqueur (such as Tia Maria or Kahlua)
  • Stir and add ice up to the top of the glass
  • Swirl Baileys over the ice!
