Dozens of tractors will pass through Macclesfield in memory of a teenage girl.

Mia Jennings' life was tragically cut short when she suffered a cardiac arrest in January, 2023.

The swimming instructor and HR apprentice from Broken Cross was just 19-years-old when she died.

This Saturday, December 28, 150 festively decorated tractors will take to the roads, raising money for Cardiac Risk in the Young (CRY)

The JustGiving page, launched by Mia's father James Jennings, states: "Every week in the UK at least 12 apparently fit and healthy young people die of undiagnosed cardiac conditions.

"With your donation, CRY can reduce the frequency of young sudden cardiac death by working with cardiologists and family doctors to establish good practice and appropriate screening facilities to promote and protect the cardiac health of our young.

"By supporting CRY you will help save young lives from these potentially fatal cardiac conditions."

A number of local businesses and organisations are supporting Mia's Festive Run, including Macclesfield Town Council.

"On December 28 there will be a festive tractor run through Macclesfield and the surrounding areas in memory of Mia Jennings," said a town council spokesperson.

"The aim is to raise awareness of Cardiac Risk in the Young and to get as many young people as possible screened with the money raised from the Tractor run.

"Please help and donate if possible."

Also taking part is Middlewich Round Table and Father Christmas himself.

Kevin Woodward, organiser of the event, said: "A massive thankyou to Middlewich Round Table who are bringing Santa out with their sleigh to our tractor run after the busy month they have had and after Santa's big day to make our event even more special.

"I can't thank everyone enough for the help that everyone is offering. It's amazing how communities come together for stuff like this.

"I can't wait to see everyone on the run so who's coming out to support us along the way and what areas are you watching?"

The tractors will set off from Higher Farm on Byley Lane (CW10 9LN) at 3pm on Saturday, December 28.

The convoy will make its way to Holmes Chapel, passing through the village before continuing up towards Jodrell Bank and Henbury.

Gawsworth is next on the route, with the tractors arriving in Macclesfield via Congleton Road.

The 150-strong fleet will then head along the A537 through Chelford, Ollerton and Plumley en route to Northwich.

There it will pass through Lostock Gralam and Rudheath before arriving back in Byley via King Street.
