Beer festival funds new search and rescue boat
A beer festival has helped fund a rescue boat.
Cheshire Search and Rescue have taken delivery of a new boat.
It was purchased with funds raised during this year's annual Macc Charity Beer Fest.
James Hogben, from the Macc Beer Fest committee and Macclesfield Round Table, said: "Macc Beer Fest is one of the town's largest and longest-running charity events and we're hugely grateful to the community for enabling us to put on another successful event.
"On behalf of the organising committee, I'd like to say a big thank you to everyone that attended, all of our fantastic volunteers, supporters, and our hugely valued main sponsors, SAS Daniels, Bennett Brooks, and Spiral Print.
"The funds raised through this year's Macc Charity Beer Fest have enabled the purchase of a new rescue boat for Cheshire Search and Rescue, a fantastic organisation which plays a hugely important role in the search for missing and vulnerable people in the local community."
This year's Macc Charity Beer Fest was once again held at Macclesfield Rugby Club, over the weekend of May 10 and 11.
Money raised from this year's event was used to purchase a search and rescue boat for Cheshire Search and Rescue.
Oliver Buckingham, Cheshire Search and Rescue's water lead, said: "Over the last 12 to 18 months we've found that our old rescue boat had been used more than ever in searching for missing people.
"The additional usage took its toll on the equipment, and it needed to be replaced with a new, metal-hulled boat.
"Thanks to everyone involved in Macc Beer Fest 2024, we've now been able to purchase a replacement boat, which will make a huge difference to where and how we can deploy."
