The Macclesfield organisations helping to tackle loneliness this Christmas
Christmas can be a difficult time for many, exacerbating feelings of isolation.
Fortunately, here in Macclesfield there are a number of organisations opening their doors on Christmas Day to help tackle loneliness.
The Monocle Café on Chestergate will welcome guests from 11am to 2pm on December 25, offering free hot drinks and festive treats.
"We're opening the cafe on Christmas day for anyone at a loose end, who would like a free hot drink and a mince pie, or even just a chat," read the venue's Facebook post.
"We'll be here from 11am-2pm and if you know anyone who you feel would benefit from some warmth and company on Christmas day, please let them know!"
Anyone looking to enjoy a full Christmas dinner can head to United Reform Church on Townley Street.
Hosted by not-for-profit organisation Reach Out And Recover, visitors will be treated to a three course meal.
The poster for the event reads: "Please come along and join us on Christmas Day for a three course meal, with all the trimmings, carols, company and Santa with a little gift for all.
"Everyone welcome."
If you would prefer to enjoy dinner in the comfort of your own home, then you can head down to Moss Rose where Macclesfield FC will be handing out 150 free meals.
A spokesperson for the club said: "We are pleased to confirm that our shareholders have once again come together to give away 150 free Christmas meals to support those in need over the festive period.
"These will be available for collection between 12-4pm on Christmas Eve from Bar Twenty Seven and are available on a first-come-first-served basis!"
