Macclesfield: New Bollington restaurant expands with trendy upstairs lounge bar
A booming Bollington restaurant has expanded with a new upstairs seating area.
KIRA By Sunitha, on Bollington's Palmerston Street, opened their doors less than two months ago.
Business has done so well that they have entered the next phase of their business plan by opening a new spacious lounge bar.
Located upstairs and open to diners and non-diners, the lounge bar seats 30 and has its own separate bar.
Meticulously constructed in just a fortnight, the new lounge bar contains an original Victorian oak frame, and a third upper tier for a DJ to spin the decks.
The new lounge bar has fully-furnished by Macclesfield furniture royalty Arighi Bianchi. Macclesfield's LUX Arvika also helped out.
Local tradespeople were used to kit out the new room, which along with the downstairs restaurant is another place to enjoy the delicious Indian street food.
There's five beers on draught, in addition to the extensive cocktails and other drinks already available downstairs.
Notable ornaments in the new lounge bar include some stone greyhounds, perhaps a reference to the old adage that 'everyone in Bollington has a dog', and a horned goat that references KIRA's history when it used to be called The Indian Goat, and serve from a humble food truck.
"We're delighted to open our lounge bar to our guests," said Sunitha.
"We're pleased to say that it is not the only new refurbishment we have planned.
"Over the next few weeks we'd like to prepare our garden outside, which will further expand the capacity and be a beautiful space to enjoy quality food and drink."
Last month, the Bollington eatery told Macclesfield Nub News that they wanted to gain a Michelin star.
And given the rapid expansion of this one-of-a-kind business, it might not seem that farfetched.
There is already a small bar area separate to the restaurant at the entrance of KIRA by Sunitha, but this upstairs area will allow more bums on seats and more of a party vibe.
The upstairs lounge bar will share the same opening hours as the restaurant downstairs.
Their food menu includes items like fish pakora and truffle chilli chips.
Located just over three-and-a-half miles from Macclesfield town centre, parking for the restaurant is free in the adjacent Pool Bank Car Park.
KIRA by Sunitha is located at 88 Palmerston Street, Bollington, Macclesfield, SK10 5PW.
