Macclesfield's third Costa Coffee has been confirmed to open.

That is because Cheshire East Council has just granted planning permission for the new site in south Macclesfield.

In December 2023, as reported by Macclesfield Nub News, the Buckinghamshire-based The Coca-Cola Company-owned coffee chain had applied for a new premises in Lyme Green.

The application at the Lyme Green Retail Park was for a "Coffee shop with drive thru facility, parking provision, landscaping, freestanding and elevational signage, associated illuminated and non-illuminated advertising and associated works."

The new drive-thru would remove 33 car parking spaces and would be situated to the south/west of the car park access road on Brunel Road.

However, two new disabled parking bays and bicycle storage will come to the new drive-thru Costa Coffee.

A new zebra crossing with tactile paving will be formed with the new development.

One representation from the public was made, indicating that there are better spots in the retail park to put it, and a concern over a lack of public toilets.

The new costa would be open 5am to 11pm, seven days a week.

15 jobs will be created. No opening date is yet known.

Costa has been contacted for comment.

A Costa Coffee Spokesperson said: "We look forward to opening our Drive Thru Costa Coffee store in Lyme Green Retail Park in Macclesfield next year."
