It is now easier than ever to book a coronavirus vaccine in Macclesfield, as a temporary walk-in clinic has been confirmed for our toen.

Anyone who is eligible for a COVID-19 vaccination will be able to get their jab at Waters Green Medical Centre in Macclesfield across three days this week.

With thousands of residents in and around Macclesfield eligible for a first, second or booster dose, staff at the Sunderland Street site have answered the call to help vaccinate the nation following the emergence of the Omicron variant.

Subject to demand, it is estimated that as many as 10,000 vaccinations could be administered at the town centre vaccination centre across the three days later this week.

Just head the Waters Green Medical Centre on Sunderland Street on any of the following dates:

Wednesday, December 29th 2021 (8am-8pm)

Thursday, December 30th 2021 (8am-8pm)

Friday, December 31st 2021 (8am-4pm)

No appointment is needed, to help answer to the high demand for jabs for the Macclesfield area.

There are at least 106 cases in Central Macclesfield according to the latest data, as of publication of this article.

Macclesfield Primary Care Network Clinical Director Dr Joe Banns said "We are delighted to be able to offer these three walk-in clinics to help vaccinate Macclesfield. The clinics are open to anyone who is eligible – not just registered patients – and are a result of a true team effort.

"Clearly, the nature of a walk-in clinic dictates that demand can fluctuate from one moment to the next. To help manage this, we are sequencing invitations to registered patients across the three days and ask for patience while we vaccinate people as quickly as we can.

"We are also working closely with Cheshire East Council, highways officers and local businesses to ensure any disruption is kept to a minimum."

Patients attending the medical centre for vaccinations are advised that they will only be able to attend on foot as the car park will be closed for the duration of the vaccination clinics to support safe patient flow in and out of the building. So it is very much a literal 'walk-in' affair!

People are asked to enter the building via the car park on Boden Street and follow the signs.

Macclesfield MP's David Rutley has encouraged his constituents to get vaccinated at the pop-up site.

"Please take this opportunity to get vaccinated," he said.

"If you haven't had your first, second or booster dose. It will help protect you, your families and the wider community. Many thanks to all those who are making this possible."

Patients with limited mobility can be dropped off and collected at the front door. You can also call the new vaccination hub which houses six GPs in Macclesfield on 01625 423692.

Vaccination is clinically-proven to reduce your risk of getting seriously ill from COVID-19 and your risk of catching or spreading COVID-19.

Anyone who is unable to attend one of the walk-in clinics can instead arrange their COVID-19 vaccination appointments via the National Booking Service (or by calling 119).

Waters Green Medical Centre is located in the Macclesfield ward of Central Macclesfield.

It is there, where the 1st dose vaccination rates is 82.8%, 2nd dose being 77.9%, and 3rd dose with 49.2%.

These are some of the lowest vaccination rates in our town, likely due to Central Macc's high concentration of young people.
